The Anchorage VA will move from its current location

on DeBarr Rd. to a location adjacent to the Elmendorf

hospital on Muldoon Rd. around 2009

The VA is comprised of a series of sites providing health care, benefits, and services for veterans throughout the state of Alaska. Primary care facilities in Alaska include: an outpatient clinic in Anchorage (which is the largest in the state) and two VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (located in the Bassett Army Community Hospital on Fort Wainwright and in Kenai). There is also a Managed Care Coordinator located in Juneau that facilitates inquiries for health care and benefit services in southeast Alaska. Alaska’s veterans receive inpatient care provided through VA and US Department of Defense (DoD) sharing agreements at both Elmendorf AFB and Fort Wainwright. Additional inpatient / outpatient care not available within the local VA or through joint ventures and other sharing agreements is coordinated through community hospitals and providers throughout the state. A multi-faceted comprehensive Homeless Veteran Service comprises the final care site and includes a 50-bed residential Domiciliary, a compensated Work Therapy Program, a Veterans Industries Program, a Transitional Housing Program and outreach partner text.
